What you do
Two Tuscan cities in one day, which is only sane by fast train: Rome to Florence in an hour and a half, then across to Pisa and back.
In Pisa a local guide walks you through the city and the Piazza dei Miracoli, and the ticket for the Leaning Tower is included — you go up. Afterwards there is free time for the cathedral and the rest of the square at your own pace.
The group then returns to Florence, where the remaining hours are yours: the Duomo, the Signoria, the Arno, or simply dinner before the evening train back to Rome.
Two things to know. The Rome–Florence legs you travel on your own with the tickets provided; the tour leader is with you from Florence to Pisa and back. And you meet at Roma Termini — there is no hotel pickup. Instructions arrive by email a few days before. Book at least six days ahead; the operator treats the booking as non-refundable once made.
