Tuscany by High-Speed Train, Medieval Towns and Chianti
Siena, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and a cellar in the Chianti hills
- Length
- Full day
- Meeting point
- Roma Termini station
What you do
Tuscany in a day from Rome, which only works because the train does the distance for you: fast train to Florence, then a coach through the Chianti hills with a tour leader for the rest of the day.
First stop Monteriggioni, a walled village so intact it still looks like a defensive plan. Then Siena, with a guide through the historic centre, and free time afterwards for lunch and for the Campo.
The afternoon is San Gimignano, the town of towers, and then a cellar in the Chianti: a look at how the wine is made, a tasting, and something to eat with it.
Back to Florence for the evening train, in Rome the same night.
Hotel pickup is not part of this one: you meet the group at Roma Termini. Book at least six days ahead, and note the operator treats the booking as non-refundable once made.
